In July of 1991 SmashingPumpkins.com announced “The Perfect Radio” contest.
I just wanted to say thank you, for bringing more love and light and rock again to us all. Once again we are surrounded by newness, wonder, and awe. Each song, is such a sweet surprise intertwined with the glorious kick ass rock you have always gaven to us.
Thank you for the fun, the laughter, the smiles, the sheer joy, and excitement, the time, the effort and the hard work you put into everything you do!
JC you are truly so very talented, you never cease to amaze, so versatile, you are truly gifted, and so very much appreciated. Lisa, Ginger and Jeff, though we don’t know you well, we love you! Please don’t ever think we dont acknowledge your contribution to the band, believe me we do, you fucking rawk!
Billy, I just wanted to tell you, to let you know how truly appreciative I am.

this just gives me chills!
Thank you Billy!
Neverlost
all hands on deck
setting sail to get wrecked off course
you make what you want of me
i will keep you anyway
let’s fill these hours and kill desire
let’s fill these hours and kill desire
i’m in touch with you
let’s kill these hours and fill desire
every turn is torture thought
every kicking of the drum
i’ve seen the film
i know the place
i’m never lost
there’s just one way across
i’m never lost
headlights shoot north
the ends of earth off course
of course
if you think just right
if you’ll love you’ll find
certain truths left behind
all this is that once forgot
a closing down of the gate
but oh these hours
i lost my place
i’m never lost
there’s just one way
there’s no disgrace in failing me
let’s kill these hours and fill desire
i’m in touch with you
let’s kill these hours and fill desire
i’m in touch with you
i’m in touch with you
Wow! This is just amazing!!
With all the functionality, and surprise of the old with the twists and innovations of the new.
Full of light and love that the band wants to portray and receive.
Special categories for just the band member posts, with comments having to be approved before posting.
That way Billy can post his heart out without fear of nonsensical backlash of non productive garabage thrown at him without reason.
His posts were the best part of the O-board, the Chards of Glass. That made the O-board unique from any other site out there.
A clear understanding of the tos of the board. Opinions are one thing trolls are another. That was the main problem before and what brought about the negativity.
A unique forum for Q and A that dont really belong in a category or forum, answered by the admins, and mods.
A live chat room option for those that would like to talk one on one, or with a group, with the private feature available.
Maybe showcase fan based art for the banners/wallpaper on a rotating basis, maybe have several that the members can choose from and vote to be showcased for that week.
With the usual, must register to post, but also with the condition only one ip, one email per registration. Users creating multiple usernames/accounts will not be tolerated. Moderation is key and so vital.
I know that we can do this and it be a positive experience for all, it once was and it can be again, only now even better. We have learned and we know what to look for and what to avoid. We can make this a place for all to come to and enjoy, experience and share.

From Correspondent Mark Scheerer
NEW YORK (CNN) — The Smashing Pumpkins don’t really have a persecution complex. They’re just fighting back after finding themselves in an awkward give-and-take situation this summer.
“We’re a cantankerous group,” explains lead singer Billy Corgan. “We don’t take shit from anybody. (But) the minute we go one step down, the knives come out and that’s it.”
Corgan is referring to the fact that even though the group is giving away 100 percent of their shows’ ticket sales — amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars — to charities on their 14-city summer tour, they’re getting blasted by critics who say their new album, “Adore,” is an underperformer because it isn’t selling as well as their previous album, “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.”
MULTIMEDIA:
Pumpkins challenge stars to help charities …
… and challenge fans to check out new album.
Not to be outdone, Corgan blames the Pumpkin’s fans for not following them in their new musical direction. “Adore” debuted at the top of international sales and stayed there for six straight weeks, according to CNN’s World Beat Top 30 chart. But U.S. sales have been less brisk.
“At this point, they should have enough faith and confidence in us just like I have faith and confidence in the bands that I admire. And if they don’t, then they’re not fans,” Corgan says.
‘Great, moving music’
“We’re not about a style of music, we’re about putting out great, moving music,” adds bass player D’arcy.
Guitarist James Iha maintains the band couldn’t just keep doing the same thing.
“We wouldn’t be a band anymore if we made just a retake of our last record,” he says.
And while most bands would be thrilled at the prospect of having New York’s 53rd Street shut down for a performance on “Late Night With David Letterman,” it’s visits to places like Harlem’s Hale House that mean more.
Band’s benevolence widespread
The Pumpkins have donated more than $419,000 to the Hale House, a home for abandoned babies. Charitable causes in 13 other cities on their tour have also benefitted from the band’s benevolence.
“You walk into a place and you see these babies and you see the love that they’re getting and you also know that situation they’re coming from and it makes you want to cry,” Corgan says.
Corgan says any industry attention they receive is secondary to the charitable work they’re doing. In his own caustic manner, he challenges others to make the same generous gestures.
“This is really a big ‘Fuck you’ to everybody,” Corgan says. “It’s like, ‘OK, if we can do it, what about you, Mr. Making-$20-million-a-movie, Mr. Sports-star-earning-$10-million-for-playing-162-games.’”
That’s philanthropy, Smashing Pumpkins style, as they face less-than-charitable treatment from critics.
“We’ve proved everyone wrong before,” Corgan says. “We’ll prove them wrong again.”
Around April or May, I heard a report that the pumpkins were going to play a free concert at soldier field to celebrate their 10th anniversary. at this time, I was probably a bigger pumpkins fan than I had ever been to that point….mainly because adore had just come out and all the people I knew who liked them during Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie started to diss them by saying their new album sucked and they hated Billy..yadda yadda yadda.
This really made me pull into them more and more as I was constantly having to defend them and, literally, fighting people at the record store I worked at to keep the adore disc on regular rotation in our store stereo. So anyway, I heard this news about them playing this free show at soldier field during the time we were going to be there, so I naturally freaked out and was determined to get my tickets as soon as possible.
Well, the city would not let them do it, so they eventually moved it to the new world music theater in tinley park. I was so excited the day of the show that I could hardly sit still. so we get there and Cheap Trick is the opening band (not bad eh?) and they are well-received of course since they are the original Chicago band. then the Pumpkins take the stage and the place goes freakin’ nuts. I knew it was going to be a great show because they always blow it out for the hometownfolks. Sorry if my story’s dragging here. anyway, the Pumpkins are rawking out, the crowd’s going apeshit, and I’ve had a few beers so I’m feeling pretty good.
At this time, I didn’t know that the proceeds from the tour were being donated to sick children’s charities (namely the make-a-wish foundation if I’m not mistaken), so after they’ve played 6 or 7 songs, this lady walks out onstage with a couple of little bald-headed cancer-patient kids.
Billy tells the story about how they’re giving this money to the children and they’ve been put in this position by the fans and they want to use their stature to help others. So Billy then presents this little kid (couldn’t have been more than 6 or 7 years old) with a check for $500,000 or something like that and the little kid says “Thank you billy and thank you to The Smashing Pumpkins” in a real sweet little voice. I look around me, and all of the girls are already crying….but I’m not quite there yet.
Then, the lady with the kids says into the microphone “and now Billy, we’ve got something for you.”
At that moment, about 30 little bald children come walking out from the right-hand side of the stage and line up in 3 rows of 10 like a little choir.
Well, my eyes start welling up as soon as i see these kids walk onstage, and i look at Billy and he’s crying too.
Then the kids start singing “today is the greatest day i’ve ever known”…..Billy nods his head to D’arcy and they start playing the music to accompany the kids, which surprises the kids and several of them get these huge grins on their faces as they sing the next verse…….”can’t live for tomorrow i might not have that long.”
By this point, everyone in sight is crying and I realize that the tears are just pouring down my face because this whole thing just really hits me very deeply and is so touching and moving. The kids finally finish singing and the crowd is just completely silent for a second before erupting into a roar that I’ve never heard the equivalent of at any football game I’ve ever been to.
The kids start jumping around onstage because they’re so happy and then Billy hugs them all, and as they leave the stage it really hits me why I love this band so much.
Who else would do something like this y’know?
So from that day on, anytime anyone has ever talked trash about Billy or the Pumpkins around me, I’ve told them that story and, every time, they say something like “wow, that is really cool.” It was just a beautiful beautiful thing that made me realize just how much the Pumpkins care.

isn’t this just cool as hell!
so pretty!
to step outside my SP site and venture into my thoughts.

You have been forewarned!
Firstly, my name is Rox.
What you will find here, maybe some things that are off the beaten track, not the norm, all feedback is welcome, but comments are moderated.
If you want to bitch, email me, I am sure I will find an equally appropriate place for it.
My site began many years ago, in 1996 on 3.17 as a matter of fact, and purpose. It grew from a novice angelfire site, with the name “Kitty Kat’s Smashing Pumpkins Site, well needless to say more peeps than not did NOT catch the username ‘Kitty Kat’ from the much beloved song “Hello Kitty Kat “.
So I trashed that username, and Apathy’s Ecstasy has been my username and the name of my domain ever since.
You do recognize ‘Apathy’s Last Kiss’ dont you?
Im not a fan, fan=fanatic and I am not that at all.
I do not have SP pics plastered all over my walls. I don’t collect everything in sight off of ebay. And I have a life beyond the internet.
You may find some things here you may have never seen, or heard or that has even crossed your mind.
*love light and mischief*
